On May 3, 2015, I decided to take a short trip up North to JFK to test out my Tamron 150-600mm. This was in lieu of my personal cancellation of the trip to the Manassas Airshow, which was Saturday only, and featured the Brietling Jet Team. Upon arriving, it was obvious that they were using 13L for arrivals. I took position at a local park to capture some jetBlue E-190s, the Aeromexico 787, and the Nippon Cargo 747-8F. That meant shooting into the sun on a hazy day, which doesn't produce desirable results. I tried-
An hour upon arrival, the infamous 13L/22R split did in fact go in effect. In case you aren't familiar, the European arrivals and some planes coming from New England arrive 22R, and the American/Asian planes go 13L. I went to 22R, as any JFK spotter would. Upon settling in, a C-5M was seen on approach onto 13L. Dang it! Oh well, I still got some decent stuff
